Wingerworth Audio Trail

Join us on this audio trail around the village of Wingerworth.

This two-mile audio trail will track the mainly agrarian lifestyle of the inhabitants of this village, from its first recorded settlement of fourteen households of freemen in 1086 to its gradual increase to 500 inhabitants in 1920 when the Hunloke Estate was sold.

Today, the population has reached 7,000.

We will visit buildings that help tell this story, discover what other industries shaped this area and hear about the Lords of the Manor, including some notable inhabitants.

The audio trail can be quickly downloaded onto an MP3 player, iPod or mobile phone.

The map and directions are available below, along with a guide to downloading the audio trail.

You can download a zip folder containing all the tracks in one go, a complete podcast or download and listen to the individual tracks, you choose!

The trail has been produced by Higham-based company 'Audio Trails' with the help of Wingerworth Parish Council and other local information.
